Stan Shieh, the current president of the company, began his career in 1971 at Union Industrial Corp. and during his time there he was able to design and develop a sophisticated calculator.

Creation

In late 1972 he helped set up Calitron, where he was the leader of the group that invented the first hour in a pen. In June 1976, Stan Shih and his friends founded Multitec International Corporation, which later became Acer and specialized in the personal computer industry. Under his direction, sales reached about 6 billion in 1996. The company marketed personal computers to the world, making it the only Asian and non-Japanese company to be among the top 10 computer companies in the world, starting with $ 25,000, five partners and 11 employees.


In 1978, he ran the Micro Processor Training Center, where he trained more than 3,000 engineers from Taiwan within two years. The Microprocessor Bulletin was also published to disseminate computer science and ideas in Taiwan. In 1985, Acer Land was founded, a chain of more than 100 computer stores. In the same year the company had branches in Germany and Japan. The company's name was changed to "Acer" in 1988, a Latin word with multiple meanings (verb, subtle, intelligent, and categorical), and in the same year Acer entered the stock market.

Development

He was honored by the Marshall University Teachers and Students Committee and received the International Award for Management Excellence on January 1, 1998. He was selected by Executive Digest Magazine as one of the best managers in the last 15 years.


He was also awarded the International CEO of the year in 1995 by the Financial World magazine. In the same year, he was chosen as the CEO. The Al-Kidwa Award, a prize for people who are important role models for others, is recognized. Fortune magazine said it was one of 25 people you should know if you wanted to make deals in Asia. He was able to make his company outperform big Japanese companies, and Micro Times said he was one of the 100 most influential people in US information systems history.
